Description:
Smith & Wesson  .44 DA  First Model Revolver, also known as "New Model Navy" or "DA frontier"  - Cal. .44 Russian -  4" Bbl. - 6 shot - 1 7/16"  cylinder - SN 26XXX ( late 1880s-mid 1890s approx.) - Bore is about excellent - bright and shiny with sharp rifling but has a few spots of minor roughness - action is excellent with perfect timing, lock-up, and ejection.  Metal is excellent overall  with sharp markings and  no rust, pits, or corrosion and no signs of wear - retains 95% ++ original factory nickel with only a few minor spots of oxidation or 'spotting"  on the barrel and frame - trigger guard retains 99% blue.  Hard rubber grips are excellent and undamaged with sharp logo and checkering and show no wear at all.  This early S&W DA large frame revolver in .44 Russian  was a popular sidearm in the Old West and was a favorite of such characters as Belle Starr and John Wesley Hardin.   This revolver is all original and in excellent ++ condition with nearly all of the original finish  finish intact and in perfect working order .  a super piece for an early S&W or Old West collection.
