Description:
NSN, .69 cal., 42” barrel with a very good, freckled bore. This is an original flintlock musket that has an overall mottled pewter gray patina, brightest on the 1834 dated, Springfield lockplate, with spots of dark freckling throughout and the remnants of an old coat of protective varnish towards the muzzle-end of the barrel. The barrel breech is marked, “LS US/P” with some minor vise marks on the side flat and noticeable cleaning marks on the unmarked barrel tang. Heavier pitting is present surrounding the touch-hole. The low-comb walnut stock has been armory refinished to fine shape with scattered minor handling marks and blemishes in the military oil finish. The buttplate tang is unit marked as well: “A/58”. A correct, all-metal ramrod is included and the mechanism is tight and functional. This is a very nice example of a desirable American flintlock musket and would make a great addition to any collection. Antique
