Description:
Serial #238, .450 CF, 3 3/4” octagonal barrel with a good, darkly freckled bore. This is a British proofed, five shot revolver with safety and has a predominately mottled plum-brown and gray patina with some small specks of pinprick pitting visible along the barrel and on the cylinder. There are light cleaning marks visible throughout the metal as well as a filled dovetail on the lower right of the barrel where an old ejector rod used to be installed. The steeply raked walnut grip is in very good condition with some flattening of the points and two hairline cracks at the tip of the rear projection (which also has four carved notches on the left edge). The firing pin was ground at some point, but the lock-up and timing are still firm and the revolver is mechanically fine. This is an interesting revolver, of a seldom seen type, similar to the later RIC revolvers by Webley, and would make a great additio to any collection. Antique
