The lock is marked " L. Bany". However it is possible that the name on the lock is "Albany" with the "A" having been stamped in error over a portion of the engraving on the lock. There is also engraving on the brass trigger guard. The action is strong. There is no percussion cap installed. The barrel is 1/2 round and 1/2 octogon. I believe the barrel was originally finished brown and traces of that finish remain. There are no proof marks to be seen ( I did not look under the barrel or inside the lock). There are the letters "H", "U", and "S" on the lock. The wood retains most of the varnish and there is a blank shield set in the butt. The metal is in good condition with some very minor old pitting on the barrel near where the percussion cap would be located. The wood is also in very good condition with a few minor dings and two small cracks . There is a front and rear sight. A very handsome pistol at a very fair price. This is an antique so no FFL is required. Pistol may be sent directly to the new owner SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Albany?
