Description:
This is a Springfield Model 1873 in .45-70. The trapdoor and rear tang have a case colored finish that shows signs of wear and age. The right sideplate is stamped U.S. SPRINGFIELD with an eagle to the left. The blued finish is very worn. The Barrel and other metal are blued with some patina and rust evident as well as some handling marks. The wood stock has a steel butt plate that is U.S. marked. There is an inspector's cartouche on the left side of the stock above the trigger. The stock has acquired a number of nicks and dings through the years.
