Sharps Meacham Conversion .40 2⅝ caliber rifle. Heavy barrel gun. Bore has strong rifling and looks like a dark area of pitting that runs for about 2” a foot or so from the muzzle. Overall the bore is dark. Barrel has scattered pitting and a dark brown patina. The action has double set triggers and gun works fine. Butt stock is checkered. This is a conversion from a percussion frame and was almost certainly done by Meacham in St. Louis. The condition of this gun is much like that of known buffalo guns. A very neat piece!
