Description:
This pre-WWI British hammer gun made by Thomas Wild (Birmingham) has been properly reconditioned, and with its 30” fluid-steel nitro-proofed barrels, 3” chambers, and IC/M chokes it is an excellent gun for both sporting clays and hunting.

The wall thickness (top/side/bottom) for the right barrel at 9” from muzzle is 034/.034/.033 and at the middle of the barrel is .037/.037/.037; the left barrel is .034/.037/.034 and .039/.041/.038, respectively.  Bores 9” from the breach are .723/.723 respectively, and the muzzle outside diameters are.828/.828 respectively.  The chokes are .010 and .019 respectively.  The gun weighs 7 lb 8 oz.  The drop at the comb is 1-7/8” and at the heel 2-3/4”.  Length of pull is 14-1/4” to the end of the wood and 15” to the end of the recoil pad.  The action has a pleasant pewter grey color and, as seen in the close-up pictures, and the lettering and engraving are well defined.  The barrels are refinished using the Belgian blue process, and the bores are bright.  The gun locks up tight and on face; the top lever returns to center.  The serial number, 10853, matches on all parts.

The price does not include shipping costs paid by buyer.  The inspection period is 7 days from receipt.  We have fired this shotgun on sporting clays ranges on a number of occasions using standard factory 2-3/4” target loads.  However, as for any vintage shotgun, and especially one over a hundred years old, it is recommended that the new owner have it inspected by a professional gunsmith before firing.  The gun carries a 30-day warrantee, during which we will have any mechanical problems documented by a professional gunsmith repaired or accept the return of the gun and refund the price of the gun and the return shipping cost.  Please do not hesitate to call with questions Stephen Wesbrook, 703-625-4830; Back in Time, LLC  -- preserving late 19th and early 20th Century double shotguns.
