The exterior has VG+ wood with almost no significant wear or bruises, and the metal is smooth brown on the barrel but the frame has a strange sort of wavy overlay of crustiness; markings are VG and the sights and magazine are original. There are no military markings and no cartouches, so being as the wood is in such nice condition, I assume this was never an issued weapon, but rather sold in the civilian marketplace. It is a hard to find rifle, only 3000 ever made between 1865-1867 and being quickly obsolete insofar as the caliber was concerned, most were scrapped for usable parts. For the collector interested in Spencer Arms, this is a very decent representation of this particular model. $2250 .....SALE!! $2145 SOLD Antique: Yes |
