#4672 Manhattan “Belt Navy”, 5”x36cal, one-line Newark address, 28XXX range and therefore a Series III and manufactured in the Civil War years. The Manhattan Belt Navy was the most successful competitor to Colt in a civilian gun with over 78000 made between 1859-1868. In ways they were actually superior to the Colt Navy and definitely superior to the smaller calibered Pocket Model Colt, but Colts aggressive advertizing and lobbying the military kept Colt revolvers in 1st position. This particular revolver has all matching numbers (including the wedge), a smooth grey-brown patina overall, VG+ grips with no serious blemishes, and about 60%+ cylinder scene. Very good action and about a “6+ to 7” bore on a scale of 10. About VG+ as described. $825
