This 1963 dated rifle has retained 92-95% of the original blue finish with some mild silvering at the muzzle, on some of the high and projecting edges, and a few scattered spots of a mellow plum-brown freckling as well. The matching numbered bolt has a bright body with blue still present along the handle and on the wide safety lug. A sheet metal Mk. II adjustable rear sight is fitted and there is no import stamp present. The “Ishapore bolt” equipped, matching numbered forend and handguards have scattered light handling marks and minor blemishes in the armory re-applied dark brown oil finish, heaviest around the butt, and a single correct, armory renumbered magazine is included which has a commensurate amount of the original blue finish remaining. Additionally, an original tan canvas military sling is fitted. This is a very nice and desirable late No. 4 variant, in fine-excellent overall condition, with no import markings, and would make a nice addition to any collection of Lee-Enfields. {Refs. “The Lee-Enfield A Century of Lee-Metford & Lee-Enfield Rifles & Carbines” by Ian Skennerton; 2007, “India's Enfields” 4th Edition by Robert Edwards; 2003} FFL or C&R SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Manufacturer: Enfield Model: No. 4 Serial Number: 06056 Caliber Info: .303 Gauge Info: .303 |
