Description:
.45 caliber, 40 inch Octagon barrel, iron furniture, brass fore end cap and wedge escudgens, U S stamped in bottom of stock at the trigger guard tang.
Many of these Henry rifles were purchased by the government for "treaty guns".  Most of those were smaller calibers.
Bore is dark with strong rifling, iron is plum blue to brown, brass is aged mustard color, appears that about 8 inches of the ram rod rib has been replaced, wood is solid, circa 1840's.
