John Rigby .450 Double Rifle. 26" barrels with nice rifling. Strong lands wth very minor frosting in the grooves. This gun shoots well. Silver blade front sight with 1 standing and 3 folding rear sights. Hand cut top rib with "JOHN RIGBY CO. DUBLIN & LONDON" engraved. The barrels have a smooth overall plumb brown finish with minor pitting on the outside near the forend. The locks are all marked inside with the Stanton name and are non-rebounding. Hammers are both original. The Jones underlever is tight and the rifle is on face. The forend is tight and latches well. The rifle weighs 9 lbs as shown. The butt stock is a later replacement in a nice piece of English walnut and is very well done. Tight inletting and no proud metal. 15" LOP to a metal buttplate along with a Horn grip cap. The forend wood is original and shows its age but is solid and quite useable. The rifle shows well with smooth metal, nice oil finished wood and good balance. This will make you a superb vintage hunting rifle. It comes with a relined period leather case along with oil bottle, turnscrew and horn pin bottles.
