Description:
#86, 12 Bore, 30 3/8” barrel with good, lightly freckled bores. This is a nice, French-made, sling swivel-equipped shotgun that has an overall dark plum-brown patina overall with some traces of white metal present on the trailing ends of the lightly engraved back-action locks. There is some minor freckling and pinprick pitting at the top of the barrels at the breech, and clear maker's markings are visible on the locks: “DIVOIR” on the left, and “A' LILLE” on the right. The barrels appear to have been shortened very slightly, and the walnut buttstock has been nicely refinished to fine shape with only scattered minor handling marks and small surface blemishes. The lock-up is still tight and the action is fully functional. The length of pull measures 14” to a steel buttplate. The Divoir firm of Lille, France, operated from 1835-1845, after which it became Divoir-Leclerq until the 1850s. This is an attractive pinfire shotgun and would make a nice decorative accent piece for a gunroom or study. Antique
