#4990 Colt 1878 D/A, 7-1/2”x45COLT, 17xxx range (manufactured in 1886). Fine bore (about an “8”) and VG action, being just a little sticky on the SA mode but working fine on DA, fine metal with no pitting and 20-30% original nickel remaining with the rest being a neutral grey. The grips are about Fine with just slight wear and no chips at the rear locating pins; often missing lanyard ring is intact. …AND, here is the “cherry on the top of the sundae”! It is marked NWMP over a British crown on the backstrap ..and looks to be a correct marking. Whether this is an authentic NorthWest Mounted Police (AKA Canadian Mountie) revolver is yet to be determined, but it is a pretty strong piece regardless (except it could be tuned up a bit to be smoother on the SA mode).
