Description:
A nice U.S. Model 1842 percussion pistol  dated 1853 and Midd-TN.Conn. on the lock so it was probably used in our Civil War, and possibly the war with Mexico as well.  The lock is also clearly marked "U.S. over I.N. Johnson" . The 8 1/2" round barrel is marked "STEEL" on the left side, and above that  the barrel is marked "U.S. over  S.K. " over " p."  The usual two cartouches are faint but visible on the left side of the stock. The trigger guard, butt, back strap , barrel band and front sight are all in brass which is in very good condition. The barrel and lock were finished  bright  . The  trigger still shows most of its original blue finish. The walnut stock is also in very good condition with very few marks. . The action is very strong and the nipple is in good shape. The ramrod is the captive swivel type. A good example of this well made U.S. Military pistol. By N.R.A. standards it should rate "Very Good". A total of only 10,000 of these were made  by I.N.Johnson between 1853 and 1855.

This is an antique so no FFL is required. It may be sent directly to a new owner.
