Unusual to say the least ... 32'x3" (as proofed LC) 16 ga waterfowl gun w beefy action and cased in the original maker's brass-cornered canvas case. Tight fully engraved action, game scenes, blacked, 3rd fastener, good screws, recent full service. BP proofs, R670/656 (M) L666/644 (IM), scattered light to moderate pitting both bores, rebrowned w one or two minor spots of residual pitting, rib relaid (some solder visible), engraved "The Gun of the Period". Highly figured stock, recheckered and refinished, sliver repair to forend, measures 14 1/2x1 3/4x3 1/2", horn plate. Nice game scene engraving (pheasants strangely not ducks). Case is original, sound but canvas covering poor, handle and straps have been replaced, original owner's name and SN on second label. 6.5lb. A real find for Lewis fans .. the only original 3" 16ga I have ever encountered.
