Description:
Civil War Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver - HARTFORD - Cal. 31 - 6" Bbl. - SN181237XXX(1860) - all matching numbers, except wedge. Bore is near excellent - bright with sharp rifling and only a few small areas of light spotting. Action is excellent with perfect timing and lock-up. Metal is excellent overall with sharp edges and no no rust, pitting, or corrosion - barrel address and cylinder scene are a little light but clearly visible. Barrel retains about 90% thinning blue - cylinder about 85% thinning and shows a few minor dings on one side.- excellent nipples. The frame and loading lever retain about 25% fading case color and the balance has drifted to a gray patina - the guard and backstrap retain nearly 95% silver. Grips are excellent and undamagedwith 90% original finish. A very sharp, crisp and desirable Hartford pocket model revolver in Fine + condition. Many of the Hartford Colts went South before the war in 1860-1861. This will make a nice addition to a Civil War or early Colt collection.
