CIVIL WAR COLT STATE CONTRACT MODEL 1851 NAVY REVOLVER CIRCA 1863. All original and complete State Volunteer’s “Contract” finish Navy serial numbered in the 137,xxx range except the barrel and lever which are numbered closly in the 141,xxx range. A field swap during the period of use with the wedge numbered to the cylinder, frame and straps. Very good to fine overall with excellent oil finished grips and mellow brass straps which were brush polished originally and not plated. Good Naval Engagement cylinder scene with slight wear. Barrel with crisp “Col. Saml. Colt New York, U.S. America” address. Brass blade front sight professionally added during the period. Faint blue and patina on barrel and mousey grey patina on the case hardened frame. Fine working order and excellent bore and chambers. Serial numbered very close to known Model 1851 Navy serial numbers issued to the Illinois Volunteer Cavalry.
