Bland & Sons, 106 Strand, London: A Thomas Bland & Sons 500/450 #1 Express Black Powder Henry Jones Hammer Underlever Double Rifle Made about 1889, 28" Henry's patent steel barrels, Full rib with 3 folding rear sights, Non-rebounding hammers, Anson Patent #15529 forend release, Full length trigger guard tang to a steel grip cap, Sling eyes, 14 7/16" LOP over a steel buttplate, 8 lbs. 14 oz., Very nice wood, Here is a very nice solid rifle with 75% original blue on the barrels, 25% original case colors, Very solid wood both fore and aft that has had oil applied but not refinished, The checkering is still original and at 80%, The bores are excellent plus with both still at 9 1/2 and near 10 and almost look like new, It is cased in a nice brass cornered oak & leather trunk with a Bland trade label. ////////////// //////////////////// Thomas Bland & Sons were founded in 1840 in Birmingham and expanded to106 Strand in London in 1872.
