Description:
A nice small size flintlock "pocket" pistol in excellent condition. The 1/2 octogon barrel is 3 & 1/4 " long with the overall length being 7". The action is strong.There are designs and/or proof marks on the barrel (a crown over the number 8). A prior owner of this fine pistol told me that there are additional proof marks under the barrel (R-D/B and an inverted "Y"). All metal has a pleasant uniform patina and no visible signs of rust or pitting. The wood extends to the end of the barrel and is also in nice condition with no wood lost, no major splits or cracks and only some minor dings. There is some wire inlay in several places on the grip. The ramrod looks like it could be original. There is no makers name. Probably made in the late 1700's.
