Description:
Winchester Model 21 12 Gauge SxS Shotgun
STRIKING A. GRIEBEL ENGRAVED, GOLD!

General Specs: Winchester, Year 1953, 12 Gauge, 7lb 4oz, Side by Side
Serial Number: 29515

When John Olin wanted to have title to the strongest side by side shotgun in the world, he went to work and got it done.  The Model 21 is an American icon in the double gun world and its reputation is well deserved.  A strikingly handsome gun with the finest single selective trigger ever devised, gunners in the know have utilized this Winchester in the field and at the club to shoot thousands of rounds without failure.  This particular M21, sn29515 built in 1953, has a factory letter showing it came from the factory as a Field Grade with 30" M/F chokes, finely figured wood, and has not been altered from that configuration.  Then came Arnold Griebel, master engraver from the Chicago area that is world renowned for his deep relief engraving and fine raised gold inlays.  This gun has some of the finest vine and foliate engraving you will ever encounter, with 2 large raised gold ducks, and 2 large geese in gold all coming in to a marsh like setting.  The background is full stippled, the barrels have a large wedge of engraving at the breech and a band of engraving at the muzzle, and the trigger guard is deeply engraved as well.  The gun is stunningly beautiful  with perfect mechanics, mirror bores, perfect screws, superb wood to metal fit, and great shooting dimensions.  There were only about 32,000 model 21's ever produced by Winchester and they are in strong demand.  Finding a fine waterfowler or field gun that will serve you well at the traps and sporting clays is a real plus.  The most desirable guns were made during the "Production Years" by the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. in New Haven, Connecticut as this one was.  The Model 21 has grown in value every year and this fine double is being offered at a price that will allow you to enjoy the beauty and shooting characteristics and if it is ever sold you can make a bit of money as an investment vehicle.
