Description:

Colt 1855 Root Revolving Rifle, a true survivor, 56 Cal. 5 Shot military configuration with the 31 3/16” barrel and original 3 leaf sight  A very good bore and rifling for its age all numbers matching. 19xx serial number range places it as civil war era but the lack of visible US stamps indicate it would have most likely been an individual purchase. Original wood, original cleaning rod, Original brass nose cap. Fully functioning with excellent mechanics, index, and lock up. Original serial numbered cylinder pin is free and easily removable. Nipples are free and removable. We are in the process of fabricating a new trigger screw (don’t ask) and it will be installed prior to shipment.  Frame shows some original blue in spots and pitting in others. Top strap inscription is mostly gone. Left side inscription is strong, Cylinder patent date is. This gun shows honest wear but has not been altered or shortened.
