Description:
This is a Springfield Model 1878 in .45-70. The trapdoor and rear tang have a case hardened finish, showing signs of wear and aging. The right sideplate is marked "U.S. SPRINGFIELD" with an eagle to the left of the markings. The sideplate is blued, and shows signs of wear and aging. The barrel has a blued finish, with some wear and minor rust around the muzzle, and signs of wear and patina on other portions of the barre. The wood stock has a steel buttplate that is U.S. Marked. The top of the stock is stamped with a T in a box, just foreward of the buttplate. The stock has mutiple scratches and dings, from wear, use, and aging.
