Description:
This is a Springfield Model 1884 in .45-70. The trapdoor has a case hardened finish, with patina and surface rust, and is marked " U. S. MODEL 1884" The right sideplate is blued with patina and pitting and is marked "U.S. SPRINGFIELD" with an eagle to the left of the markings. The barrel is blued, with some patina and pitting from aging and use. The wood stock has a steel buttplate stamped US, and multiple minor chips and scratches. The stock has a cartouche on the left side above the trigger reading "SWP 1889". This rifle comes with a US marked bayonet.
