This is a Belgian Copy of the Smith & Wesson Frontier Revolver. I believe it is .44 RUSSIAN Caliber.It appears to be Double Action, ONLY!. No Single action operation. In "Zhuk's illustrated encyclopedia of handguns" page 54, it states that These are," Based on the Double Action Pattern introduced in 1881". "Revolvers of this type were popular with the Russian Army Officers, as they were lighter, handier and could fire faster than the standard Single Action S&W Russian Model, Service Revolver" Nice Nickel Plated ! .44 RUSSIAN and .44 COLT cartridges, fit this revolver, the .44-40 cartridge, does NOT!. See the pictures of the cartridges side by side .Has lanyard Ring. 5 3/4" barrel with an excellent bore. No Serial Number. Nice hard rubber grips that are both marked on inside with the number "2". Under grip panels, in the frame, it is marked : "ART" and "FD" . It has the "CROWN over R" , on frame and "CROWN over ELG" , on back of cylinder,Proof marks. It is Marked on left side of barrel, above the hinge "CRT. 44". Lock up is tight ,and the Double Action, works like it should. Introduced in 1881. FREE SHIPPING! to lower 48 states.
