A seldom seen and rare Sunfish or Elephant Toenail pocketknife made by the famous Cutlers "Platts Brothers" of Eldred Pennsylvania circa 1905. This Sunfish remains in almost mint condition with very rare features of this desirable style. German silver bolsters...buffalo horn scales...german silver pins with perfect blades that have never been sharpened and appear to have never been used and retain their factory razor edge. The blades and all metal surfaces remain in original polish. The beautiful buffalo horn scales are perfect with no shrinkage or separation and no cracks or repairs of any kind. The rare buffalo scales have a beautiful pattern and grain to them when held at the right angles. This Platts Bros. Sunfish has never had any corrosion including inside on the springs. The bar style german silver shield remains perfect also. The knife measures 4 3/8 inches. This is one of the rarest and best quality American pocketknives made by a premier American Cutler and would be the center piece of the most advanced American pocketknife collection.
