Description:
This is a nice Colt Model 1862 Police, 5 shot, .36 caliber percussion revolver. Manufactured during Civil War in 1863. It has a 5.5" barrel with a very good bore. All numbers match the serial #11223, including the wedge. It is marked ".36 CAL. /R" on left side of trigger guard. Left side of frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT". One of the flutes in cylinder is marked,"PAT.SEPT. 10th 1850". On top of barrel is marked,"ADDRESS COL. SAM COLT NEW-YORK U.S.AMERICA." The metal finish is all patina, with some light freckling in front of cylinder from black powder. The Walnut grips are very nice and show traces of original varnish finish.
