Description:
Serial #J87972, .303 British, 25" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. The metal surfaces of this armory refurbished rifle retain about 90% plus of an arsenal re-applied blue finish that has fading and silvering on the matching nosecap, bearing surfaces and handle of the correct, but non-matching bolt, and on the other high edges and projections. The stock and handguards rate about very good and have an added military oil finish over scattered handling marks and blemishes including an area of impact damage on the right side at the magazine well that also has a short, with-the-grain crack. The buttstock has "B.L.R." stenciled in large white letters on the left side with "69" and a small brass collection inventory plaque at the toe. “B.L.R.” stands for “Beyond Local Repair” and indicates that the rifle was shipped back to one of the major armories for rebuild. The forearm is cracked and has a sliver missing on the right side by the magazine, the handguard is cracked near the front of the rear sight. There are no import markings and a single correct magazine is included. This is a very good example overall. {Ref. “The Lee-Enfield-A Century of Lee-Metford & Lee-Enfield Rifles & Carbines” by Ian Skennerton; 2007} FFL or C&R
