Description: This is a handsome dagger that measures 17" overall with an 11 7/8" straight, double-edged blade having full length decorative etched panels on either side depicting intricate fillagree with martial trophies on the obverse; a similar motif with a large Prussian eagle on the reverse. The ricasso reverse is stamped with the trademark of Pack, Ohlinger & Co. (the predecessor of E. Pack & Son). The crossguard has a typical block center with flared quillons and has a horn motif on the obverse with the common dotted line "map route" design opposite. The genuine bone grip has a dark brown age toned color with intact double wire wrap and is capped off with a Prussian crown pommel with open variant finials in the naval style. All components (including the blade tang) are serial numbered (".9") with the gilt finish still bright on the furniture. The original dark brown leather scabbard is in excellent condition except for some very mild tarnish on the frog stud. Additionally, this very dagger is featured in two full page illustrations on pages 19 and 20 of "Imperial German Edged Weaponry", vol. 3 by Col. Johnson. The Prussian Automobile Corps (Kraftfahr Korps) was formed in 1905 as an adjuct to the Imperial Automobile Club and was organized along paramilitary lines. Its goal was to improve the state of motor transport in Prussia and to train drivers for the army. This is a splendid, published example of a very rare, high grade, pre-World War I Prussian Kraftfahr Korps dagger and would make a great addition to any collection. {Ref.
