This rifle has matching numbers on the receiver, barrel, bolt, and magazine with the metal retaining approximately 90% of the original blue finish that has silvered at the muzzle, faded to a pewter gray along the raised surfaces and edges, and been cleaned to gray along the sides of the angular rear sight base. The bolt has an even, gray patina and the red-brown resin handle has some minor surface damage, but is otherwise intact. The wooden stock and handguard have an armory added military oil finish over numerous small handling marks and minor blemishes but the Swiss shield is still crisp on the right side of the butt, as are the markings on the comb. The magazine retains a commensurate amount of the original blue, but does have some silvering along the edges as well. This is a fine example of a hard-to-find first model Schmidt-Rubin, and would make a great addition to any collection.
