Description:
Serial #191670, .41 Swiss RF, 33” barrel with a very good bore that has areas of dark pitting along its length, mostly within the grooves. This is a Bern-manufactured rifle that has a few traces of the original blue finish remaining on the protected surfaces, and an overall dark plum-brown patina on the balance that has some gray fading at the muzzle, on the exposed edges, and further spots of mild brown freckling along the radii of the barrel, receiver, and barrel bands. The bolt handle and spurred trigger guard have dark brown freckling throughout and the walnut buttstock and forend (which have been armory refinished to excellent condition) have minor surface scratches and surface blemishes evenly scattered about the wood. There are some heavier handling marks on the sides of the wrist and what looks like two small circular repairs on the sides of the wrist. This is a handsome Vetterli overall that was armory refinished to fine condition. Antique
