Description:
Serial #5870028, .30-06, 24” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This rifle was manufactured in 1955, and has a “5-55” dated, SA barrel with mixed parts. The metal retains 85-90% parkerizing with gray fading and silvering at the muzzle, on the bearing surfaces of the Winchester-made bolt, and within the op-rod raceway. The rifle is fitted with a correct modified “77790722 SA” op-rod, “6528290-SA” trigger group housing, “SA D5546008” marked hammer, and “SA” marked safety. The GI birch stock and walnut handguards are in very good condition with scattered light handling marks and surface blemishes throughout. The DoD eagle cartouche is still crisp on the left side of the stock, as is the “P” proof on the pistol grip. This is a very good, post Korean War Garand that has an excellent bore and would make a fabulous shooter. FFL or C&R
