Description:

John Dickson Round Action Triggerplate, circa 1908, 12 bore, 2 1/2" chambers, original 29" fluid steel barrels with original 1 1/8 oz. proofs and later Birmingham 3 Tons proof in 1962, choked .008 IC and .021 Mod., 6 lbs. 6 oz., 14 5/8" LOP over a 1 1/4" wood extension, 1 1/2" DAC, 2" DAH, 1/8" cast off, finely detailed full coverage acanthus scroll engraving and with "John Dickson & Son, Patent" in a banner on sides of action, straight grip, splinter forend, double triggers, original ejector model showing the two screws on side of action, stock oval with previous owner's initals, highly figured original stock, automatic safety with "SAFE" in gold, originall no. 1 of a pair and so marked in gold in the usual places, patent use number "1253" making it the 1253rd round action made, bores are .736 and .736, min. barrel wall thickness at .021 and .023. Provenance: this gun was purchased out of Scotland in the late 1990's from Graham MacKinley after having gone though it and ensuring it was sound. A nice condition gun showing now a little thinning of the barrel black in spots and a very small old crack at the top tang that Graham had commented when purchased that had not changed in 10 years prior, would be an easy fix to change out the wood extension for a leather pad. Dickson round actions with good original barrels have been hard to find in the last few years. Comes in a period leather trunk case with period accessories but with a Greener trade label.
