Merkel Custom Dallas Safari Club Presidents Rifle, commissioned by the Dallas Safari Club for their President's Rifle of 2004 and stated in gold inlay on the barrel, this rifle has custom and finer engraving and a bit nicer wood than typical as well, .470 NE, 23 1/2" barrels with quarter rib and inset rear sight with one standing and one folding leaves transitioning to low rib rising again to front ramp sight, splinter forend, double triggers, pistol grip, 10 lbs 12 oz, in-stock recoil reducer, very finely engraved action with heavy scroll work and game scenes featuring a lion on the right, elephant on left, and buffalo on bottom, nicely figured European walnut with cheekpiece, 14 5/8" LOP over pad, cocking indicators, extractors, sideclips, crossbolt, with original factory leather luggage case together with a letter from the Dallas Safari Club describing this commissioned rifle. Excellent condition with some case scuffs.
