Description:
NSN, .54 caliber, 8 1/2” barrel with a good, darkly freckled bore. The barrel and “US/H. ASTON & CO.”, 1851 dated lock have an overall dark plum-brown patina with moderate pitting along the barrel, heaviest at the breech and on the nipple bolster while the brass furniture has developed a dark yellow-ochre patina throughout. The walnut stock is in very good condition with an added military oil finish over numerous minor handling marks and scratches and some moderate wear surrounding the bolster. The cartouches are still clear and legible and the attached ramrod is a correct replacement and has a lighter gray patina with patches of freckling throughout. The lock is still tight and fully functional and the pistol rates good plus-very good overall. Antique
