Description:
SOLD...Antique Smith & Wesson 1st model Baby Russian. Here is a very nice !st model Smith & Wesson Baby Russian. Has the standard 3 1/4" barrel. S/N 13120 and ALL matching numbers of course. This model was made only 1876 to 1877 with only 25,548 manufactured. AS you can see it still has quite a bit of original finish remaining. The barrel has about 85%. The frame has 85% to 90% including the front and rear grip straps. Sorry I blurred the photo of the rear grip strap. The cylinder has about 70% remaining. The balance of the metal has some staining and some suface spots of brown patina but never cleaned on or messed with. The butt by the S/N has a couple very small and minor pin prick pits as you can see but that is all. NO pitting on the rest of the gun. Traces of case color on the hammer and the barrel latch has 30% blue remaining. The marking are all excellent. The grips are very good with no cracks or chips. Show a little wear to the checkering from honest use but still a perfect factory fit with no issues. The bottom left panel of the grip shows a scratch and is not a crack. The mechanics are excellent. Tight and crisp as a new gun. Tight cylinder with NO wobbles up or down or front to back movement. Tight as new.. Tight barrel to frame fit at the hinge and the latch. The screw heads are sharp and not all burred up from tinkering. Un touched front sight never filed on or messed with. The bore is very good with strong rifling and minor roughness from black powder. The cylinder chambers will clean to bright with no pitting. Should make an excellent shooter with proper black powder loads of course. Just a pretty nice ole Smith Baby Russian pocket pistol that still has quite a bit of the original finish remaining and shows honest use but NO abuse.$15 insured shipping.
