Description:
Very scarce rifle hardly ever seen advertised. Dated 1858 on lock and barrel which is unfired and bore is about new. Barrel has a dark brown smooth finish. VP  eagle are excellent as is the barrel date. The lockplate is a smoth blueish gray with casecolors inside the primer door. Lockplate is sharply marked with U.S. Harpers Ferry in front of plate with 1858 at rear. All  markings are excellent as is the eagle on the primer door. Stock is fine with cartouche visible but not readable. Stock was lightly cleaned years ago. Brass mounts are very fine with US and rack number 39 stamped on top of buttplate. There are many dings on buttplate from guard duty as this gun is unfired. Traces of blue on long range rear sight. The rifle is all original and guaranteed.

I bought this rifle from Greg Martin's . Was in the Col. Berkley Lewis collection who helped Stuart Brown write the book "Guns of Harpers Ferry" in the 1960's
