The pistol has all the correct markings and stamps on the slide and frame for 1918 military production, includes the correct eagle head-S8 ordnance department 1st type stamp, gov't contract stamp-G, ordnance department provisional inspector mark-H and Colt assembler's mark-29. Sadly the original barrel is no longer with the pistol, instead it comes with a 5" aftermarket Match Barrel (MB in circle stamp on the left barrel lug, otherwise the barrel is unmarked and no makers name. The aftermarket match barrel is in overall good condition with some light wear but still shiny with good lands and grooves. Our guess is the owner of the gun back in the 60s or 70s pulled the original military barrel and replaced it with this aftermarket barrel to save wear and tear on the original, then years later the original military barrel was lost. Speculation on our part but it is a common story. The stocks, checkered wood grips, are time period correct for 1918 production also. The metal and finish, and stocks are in overall good condition. The pistol comes with two magazines, neither are marked (see photo). And lastly, includes is a US marked 1911 military holster date manufactured by G&K and stamped 1917. Overall condition is good, however the brass keeper that holds the flap down has pulled away from the body of the holster.
