This is a rare Hopkins & Allen "XL NO. 8" .44 Rimfire 6 shot Revolver. Was manufactured in the late 1870's and early 1880's, with an estimated total production of only a few hundred. Serial #173. Has a 6.5" barrel with an excellent bright bore. It is marked on top of the frame: "HOPKINS & ALLEN MFG. CO.,PAT. MAR.28, '71,APR. 27,'75". Below that is marked: "X L NO. 8". The nickel plate finish remaining is 95%+. Hammer and trigger guard are bright case hardened, with approx.90% of finish remaining.. The Niter blue trigger has approx. 90% of finish remaining. .Has swing-out ejector rod. Has Excellent , checkered ,hard rubber grips and swiveling lanyard ring. Screw heads are like new.
