Description:
Serial #J18089, .303 British, 25" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has hints of freckling within the grooves. The metal surfaces of this armory refurbished, 1918 dated rifle retain about 80% plus of an arsenal re-applied blue finish that has faded to an even, dull gray on the matching nosecap, bearing surfaces and handle of the correct, re-numbered bolt, and on the other high edges and projections of the “FTR” and “D^D” marked receiver. The stock and handguards rate very good and have an added military oil finish over scattered handling marks and blemishes including some arsenal repairs at the heel and toe of the butt, on the underside of the forend just ahead of the magazine, and an Indian “Ishapore Bolt” added to the left side of the stock. The buttstock has a small “7” rack number in white paint on the left side, and there are import markings on the right side of the receiver. The magazine is numbered to the gun. This is a very good example overall. {Ref. “The Lee-Enfield-A Century of Lee-Metford & Lee-Enfield Rifles & Carbines” by Ian Skennerton; 2007} FFL or C&R
