Description:
Israel Mauser/Nazi Marked K-98, Manufactured by Waffen Werke Brunn Chamber marked 'dou", Caliber 7.62 mm, Serial Number, 15XX. This gun started life as a Nazi K-98. When the war was over and the UN had allowed the Jews to create the state of Israel, there were factions that took this gun in a very unfriendly way. Israel had no source for arms and most arms producing countries for one reason or another claimed they had nothing to sell to the Israelis. However the Czechs had a large quantity of captured Nazi K-98s. They also needed money and the Israeli needed guns, so a deal was made. The Israelis took the captured guns and obliterated the Waffnamt and added a small Star of David. In 1950 all of these guns were recalled and fitted with new wood where necessary. The original receiver and bolt match. The floor plate does not and still has the Nazi Waffnamt on it. Then the guns were re-barreled to fit the 7.62 NATO cartridge. The chamber and the toe of the butt stock were then marked 7.62. The condition of this gun is super. It retains about 95% of the original metal finish. The bore is razor sharp mirror bright, mirror with not a hint of graying. The gun comes with an original rubber muzzle cover and a rare original Israeli stamped leather sling. This is a real collector's find. Scarce, historic, and in great condition. A real winner at $1095.
