Bore is near perfect, bright and shiny with sharp, crisp rifling - excellent action with perfect timing and lock-up. Metal is excellent with no rust, pits, or corrosion and retains 85% to 90% + original blue overall with some thinning on the backstrap - about 50% case color remains on the hammer. Sharp markings and US sub-inspector marks on frame, barrel, cylinder, and guard. Very early manufacture barrels were of the 1861 or "Transition" style and did not have the "New Model" marking and had the early "cone" style front sight - this one appears to be German silver mounted in a dovetail. Grips are excellent and except for very small and minor chips at the front and rear bottom edges, are undamaged and retain 95% finish with excellent fit to frame - cartouche is somewhat faint but visible. A super example of a very early wartime production New Model Army in original and excellent condition with proper US markings that will make a great addition to a Civil War collection..
