Description:
H. Aston & Co model 1842 Percussion Pistol. 1851 dated, 8 ½” barrel, .54 caliber. Markings indicate this is one of approximately 6,000 made. The 1842 is regarded as a “primary” US issued military pistol, many of which saw service in the Civil War. This pistol is in antique good to very good condition with the exception of a small patch of surface rust on the lock plate that somewhat obscures the date stamp and the numbers 259492 that are stamped into the stock on the left side between the bolts. Very good cartouches are visible on the left side of the stock above the trigger. Tight and mechanically excellent.
