Serial numbered in the 22,xxx range and all original and matching. Six shot with 7 ½” barrel. Naval Engagement cylinder scene. Manufactured early in 1853 and of the first type smallest round trigger guard Model 1851’s. Has the extra small “COLT’S/PATENT” early frame stamp. Other rare features for this are the loading lever screw entering from the right and the small bullet notch cut out on the right side of the barrel lug. Brilliant condition with little use. Retains 95% plus of the original bright blue finish on the barrel and cylinder. Still has most of the early style case hardening on the frame and lever and most of the blue on the screws. Even the matching wedge has nearly all the blue as does the screw. The brass straps have most of the original silver with only modest wear. Factory original to the gun walnut grips retain 99% of the original finish. Perfect nipples and has all the original safety pins. Near mint bore and chambers. Perfect working order. Very hard to find and the nicest early “Small Guard” 1851 Navy we have had in many years. SOLD Antique: Yes |
