This is the earliest Weatherby that we have seen (Serial # 953). Roy Weatherby started his famous business in Southgate, CA in 1945. We are not sure when this rifle was manufactured but it had to be in the early years. It utilizes an FN Mauser action and has a checkered walnut stock and a rarely found on early rifles, 26 inch barrel. This rifle has a Jaeger trigger and vintage Leupold rings and mounts. It is in excellent condition with a perfect bore and only a few small dents and marks in the wood. The .270 Weatherby Magnum cartridge has great performance out of the 26 inch barrel.
