Description:
Early and very original "light" (10lb) underlever 577 2 3/4" BPE, the action and lockplates turning brown, localized pitting on right lockplate, border engraved and marked "CHARGE 6 Drs" in addition to the normal maker's name on the locks. Locks are non rebounding, clean internally and just lubed. Action is tight with new firing pins. Original stock 14.5" LOP through steel plate, with 2 3/4" drop and not much cast, reinforced at the straight hand with "Selous plates". Original sling eye on stock on barrels. 26" Barrels are steel with crisp rifling, some localized pitting in grooves, freshly blacked. Two leaf rear sight unmarked for distance, nice file cut rib. Mechanically perfect, cosmetically challenged, will make a great shooter and conversation piece. PS I have shot this rifle and it shoots remarkably well with 4198 nitro-for-black loads and cast bullets.
