Description:
This is a fine antique Colt Model of 1878 double action with the desireable short 4 3/4" barrel and rarer blue finish. As to condition, the frame retains at least 85-90% original factory high luster blue finish. The grip straps have grayed out as has most of the cylinder. The barrel retains about 70% original factory blue. The ejector housing has traces of high polish blue. Grips are superb. Bore is gem mint. Action works like new. Wonderful antique western big bore Colt. Production of pre 1898 double actions is less than a third of the SAA and finding nice examples, esp in blue finish, is getting to be harder as more and more collectors add these to their list of Wild West handguns.
