Original WWI era Thompson Bridgeport Type L 50 Round Drum Magazine
Drum is in Excellent overall condition. There is a shallow dent on the rear cover, but it is not near the spiral feeding system and will function flawlessly. There is some grease inside the drum that appears in the photos.
After taking over control of Auto-Ordnance in 1939, Russell Maguire contracted the Universal Metal Stamping Co. of New Haven, Conn. to produce the Thompson Submachine Gun 50 round Type L drums for World Ward II. The drums came to be known as “Bridgeport Address” “L” drum.
There is a “U” stamped on the front and back face plates of each of these drums. Front shows the Thompson “Bullet” logo. See pp. 336 and 337 “Thompson: the American Legend”, by Tracie L. Hill.
