Description:
Serial #1356. This is a 1942 dated sight which has 80 - 85% of the original black painted finish remaining with dark gray underlying metal visible wherever the paint has flaked. The optics are somewhat cloudy but still serviceable and have an open - center crosshair reticule with the bottom line slightly longer than the other three. The rubber ocular eye - shade is somewhat misshapen and has some small cracks along the edge. The sight is housed in its original leather and wood carrying case which is in fine overall condition and still has the original paper label on the interior. These sights were mounted on the QF 25 pounder gun (used through World War II into the 1960's) and are a neat piece of war - dated optics; a very good - fine item for a display or collection.
