Description: Serial #41805, .38 RF, 7 3/8” octagon barrel with a very good bore that has light freckling and pitting within the grooves, mostly towards the muzzle. This revolver has retained 90% plus of its original nickel finish that has flaked lightly and developed some softening and dark plum-brown to the edges and corners, and has a few minor impact marks scattered about along the barrel, cylinder, and frame. There are some further very small spots of light-moderate pinprick pitting along the edges of the conversion ring and on the edges of the topstrap. The brass triggerguard has a mellow yellow-ochre patina and the top flat of the barrel has a still crisp roll-mark. The original walnut grips are in good plus-very good condition and have scattered small handling marks and surface blemishes marring the military oil finish on both sides along with some softening and wear along the butt, as well as a carved letter “H” or “I” on the top of the right panel. There are some impact marks on the back of the cylinder from the hammer, but the mechanism works very well so they are probably from someone working the action with to much force and dropping the hammer. This is a very nice example of a Remington cartridge conversion revolver that is in very good condition overall, and would make a splendid addition to any collection. {Ref. “A Study of Colt Conversions and Other Percussion Revolvers” by R.
